these products come out fast these days
have you noticed that?
anybody that has a bit of ai, some pcb experience, a good hookup for production and half a brain for the rest can literally build out products, raise a chunk of money on kickstarter and be off to the races, i’m pretty sure anker started out that way and look at them now, super professional and putting out new upgraded products every year.
we are already able to fabricate all the 3d printed elements around those products we could ever need but i wonder if we will ever go full arc raiders where we come to the surface to grab a bunch of wires and cards to black market fabricate our own hardware (or maintain what we have) i guess it’s just a matter of time! :)
i’m certainly looking forward to documenting the process of building out the homelab in 2026. i’ve not had a proper home in over a decade to be able to even talk about it like that.
i’ve been stringing together a bunch of stuff on the back of a raspberry pi 400 using docker containers and some software to run the stuff across our local network and while it’s done the job it’s certainly time to level that stuff up so it can be more background and automated.
the biggest push for me is doing local ai inference, not just for our chat bot accountability partners but across everything in life we do, from running the home automation, re-ordering stocks when needed (food/office) but also security, ai pretty much hits every area, i’m looking forward to the day i can wake and have my ai guide check out my health stats and build a day plan around that.
i’m not sure how we keep ourselves in money while we do this but i guess the great sorting hat of life will take care of that!
peace and love mouse.
