Full Circle Analog Flashbacks

it’s my birthday today.

I’m not known for being that much of a birthday person all told.

I’m not totally sure why that is but i don’t like the attention or the focus on me or the need to spin up energy for it or something these days.

Maybe it’s a lot to do with the age thing, over 50 i feel like i don’t want to celebrate them too much and i want everything to slow down now that life is better.

I’m here for generational wealth for me and my extended family. I’m with my wife, missing my daughter but know I’m in the right place to carve out a life.

if i was back at my home country, i would still be living out a life that was just on major pause, have had the electric heater on and just zoned out in a hammock in a van in the middle of the national forest.

Those days are behind me thou (I’m thankful) and i have better life opportunities and I’m with my partner now of over a decade — we made it work even thou we were so far apart, divided by 3000 miles of ocean.

Today, for my birthday aside from a killer breakfast, hmart run and a solid matcha from paris bagette (so elite btw) we managed to pick up an album box set i had my eyes on.

It was’nt cheap but i see it as an investment — as a kid I’d go into town on the bus every week with my money to see if any imports had come in.

I’d collect greensleeves reggae samples, special edition depeche mode albums and these, electro albums, i only ever had 6/7 and the uk one.

Now finally in a weird twist of fate being east coast and not far away from the epicentric of where electro really took off i have the 9LP box set.

I’m interested again in vinyl and analog now that everything can be slop replicated, it’s pure and it cannot be messed with.

I think that’s going to have huge value in years to come from the people that “remember” before the “burn” as i call it now.

It’s a fixed analog asset, I’m pretty sure i could flip this easily back home for double the money but for tight now it’s the inspiration to get a vinyl setup going here, already been looking at kit.

So thankful for all the birthday wishes today, makes me feel connected to the human condition more than anything and I’m happy to reprogramme myself as to how i see birthdays!

Peace and Love Humble X
